It gives us great pleasure to invite you to the 74th Annual State IRIA conference of TN & PY chapter at Coimbatore.

The Coimbatore sub chapter of TN & PY IRIA is hosting this conference after 9 years.

Coimbatore is well known its cotton textiles, salubrious climate, entrepreneurship, hospitality and kongu tamil.

Erode, Tirupur and Nilgiris, the other major districts in this area are well known for textiles, garment exports and holiday resorts respectively. Coimbatore with multiple corporate hospitals, numerous medium sized hospitals, many Specialty consultants and General practitioners is a sought after destination for advanced and tertiary medical care. Radiology & Radiologists of the region play an important part of this service.

In 2011, Coimbatore – Kongu region IRIA subchapter was formed, incorporating radiologists of this region, formalizing the previously known ` Coimbatore Radiologists Association’.

The members and office bearers of the Coimbatore subchapter of IRIA deem it as a privilege to host this conference

Wide ranging academic discussion including workshops, lectures, paper/poster presentations and orations are to be part of this conference.

Guidelines for “Prof. M. Sivalingam Best Paper Award” for Senior Residents/Consultants”

This award is to be given to the best paper presentation among Senior Residents/Consultants.

Guidelines:

  • a) This Competition is for members who have completed in their postgraduation in Radio Diagnosis (DMRD/MD/DNB).
  • b) Members desirous to contest for the Prof. N. Kulasekaran Award should send abstracts of their paper / research and their CV to the Secretary, TN & PY IRIA on (or) before 30th November 2021 by email (tnpyiria@gmail.com).
  • c) The Awards Committee of Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry Chapter of IRIA shall scrutinize the applications.
  • d) Among the applications, three best candidates shall be selected for paper presentation in the Annual State Conference.
  • e) The duration of presentations of the competitive papers shall be 15 minutes for each candidate, including 3 minutes of discussion.
  • f) The candidate should be Members of IRIA and under 50 Yea rs of age.
  • g) The awardees shall be presented a medal and certificate

  • Paper presentations will be power point presentations of 6 minutes duration with 2 minutes for questions and discussion. Kindly adhere to the timings.
  • Please ensure that patient confidentiality is protected. No names, hospital numbers or any other identifying information can appear in the presentation.
  • Presentation can be structured in the same format as the abstract.
  • Please adhere to maximum of 5 to 7 sentences of uniform size in each slide .
  • Paper will be judged on content, quality of slides, clarity of presentation, time management and clinical relevance

  • *Paper presentations will be in two categories :Prize and proferred . A panel of judges will decide which papers are to be in the prize category and which to be in proferred . The decision of the judges will be final .

FORMAT FOR ABSTRACT SUBMISSION:

The abstract for paper presentation should be submitted on the website iriacoimbatore.com using submit paper presentation button, with following details in MS word/ Mac Pages/ Google docs–

  • - Material and Methods

* The abstract limit is 250 words (excluding the details of authors, institutions and the title of the abstract).

Format for abstract and final work:

Educational exhibit: This includes presentations of spectrum of imaging findings in the disease entity, review radiological signs, radiological- pathological correlation or radiological procedure.

The abstract for poster should be submitted through the website iriacoimbatore.com using submit poster presentation button.

Abstract should have the brief write up in MS word, Mac pages or google docs format to not more than 250words and 5 sample images in ppt format for educational exhibit. This should include full name, designation, address, phone number, email and name of the institute. The abstract should be presented under following headings:

  • -Title
  • -Aims and objectives
  • -Imaging findings
  • -Summary

The final work should be in accordance with the abstract and should not be more than 20 slides for display and time limit for presentation to judges will be 8mins. Each slide not have more than 5-7 sentences to maintain the uniformity.


Scientific poster: should be based on original studies done by presenter

Abstract guidelines and presentation are same as for paper presentation.

Interesting case: Individual case with teaching value. 5 slides in quiz format. 5 questions with answers having teaching point.

Authors can send any number of posters. Each poster will be assigned one digital display unit, on site and will be displayed on Dec 18th and 19th during the conference hours. The poster presentation and judging of the poster will take place on Sunday morning, (Dec19th). Time will be intimated to authors on previous day itself. Posters will be judged on content, quality, clarity of presentation, time management and clinical relevance. The prizes for the winners will be announced and awarded in each subspecialty later on the same day.
